Creating pictures on glass by use of a hand engraving tool differs from more traditional methods of creating pictures on glass.  More common methods include “etched glass” (chemical process), “sandblasted glass” (pressurized force) and “laser cut glass” (computerized machine).

I prefer the “hands on” approach of the engraving tool, which gives me the maneuverability and creativity I need to make a unique and treasured gift.

I use a small, pen-like engraving tool that revolves at 400,000 rpms (revolutions per minute) ~ much like a dental drill.  Several different bits are used to engrave the pictures and the ability to cut and shade the glass gives the piece a dimensional and hand-created look.  The hand tool also gives me the flexibility I need to hold true to our motto “If you can spell it or describe it, I can engrave it”!

My art becomes functional by use of mugs, dinnerware, barware, wine glasses, vases, mirrors, picture frames, pepper mills and many other kinds of glassware commonly found in the household for daily use and special occasions… which means your gift will get used and be a continuing reminder that you care!
